Patrick never fired a gun before he joined the Marine Corps. He was born in Pueblo and grew up in northern Colorado. With no old habits to unlearn, he listened to his primary marksmanship instructors and shot the second-highest score on the range at boot camp. He carried that forever-a-student attitude through 9.5 years in the Marine Corps and still applies it today.
He started as a machine gunner and did not know what a sniper was. Patrick went through the Scout Sniper Platoon indoctrination as a favor to his best friend, was selected, and built his foundation as a long-range shooter there. He took the same approach to the Marine Corps scout sniper courses he completed: listen first and learn the work.
After extensive training and overseas experience, Patrick was selected as an instructor at Scout Sniper School. He eventually became the Chief Instructor.
Patrick enjoys every kind of long-range shooting, but new shooters are where he wants to spend his time. He likes watching confidence grow as someone learns the craft from the ground up. He credits his own primary marksmanship and scout sniper instructors. They took the time to show him the right way to employ his weapon, and he wants to give foundational shooters that same start.
