Why we exist
A team of Marine Scout Snipers and competitive shooters making precision rifle instruction plain, measurable, and honest.
Who we serve
You learn faster on a range where nobody's protecting their ego. Active duty, competitive shooter, or brand new to the rifle, there's a spot for you here.
We're after one thing: changing how precision rifle gets taught. Small classes, honest diagnosis, no filler.
What you get
You'll see the difference on day one. We teach techniques that hold up at any level and give you results you can measure: hits on target, not vague promises.
We'll push you and back you up so you leave a better shooter than you showed up.

Three Scout Sniper instructors
All three taught at the Marine Scout Sniper schoolhouse. In 2024 they started The Cadre to bring that standard to everyone else.
Heritage
Where The Cadre comes from
- 2015
Phil, Matt and Jon are all teaching at the Marine Scout Sniper schoolhouse.
- 2023
The Marine Corps disbands its Scout Sniper platoons. The 0317 sniper MOS goes with them.
- 2024
Matt calls Phil: “What are we doing.” Phil asks what he thinks about bringing in Jon. Matt’s answer: “Sold.” The Cadre starts that year.
- Dec 2024
The Invite, Cody, Wyoming. Instructors shoot a graded assessment and teach blocks to each other, then take the critique.
- 2025
First paid class in May. By December, classes have run in Wyoming, Alaska, North Carolina, California and Texas.

How we train
Fundamentals first, then feedback, repetition, and improvement you can measure.
Fundamentals first
Every good shooter is built on solid fundamentals. We don't skip ahead to the flashy stuff. Your basics get locked in before we build on top of them.
What works, proven
We teach techniques that hold up in the field, on the range, and in competition.
Built for every level
A new shooter can use these techniques on day one. An experienced shooter refines the same ones for the marginal gains that move them up the leaderboard.
Measurable results
You should see your improvement. We track hits and misses and help you understand why you missed, not just that you did. If you don't leave measurably better, we haven't done our job.
Honest feedback
We won't tell you a shot was good when it wasn't. You'll hear what you're doing well, what needs work, and how to fix it.
Community first
Training with us feels like joining a family. We challenge you, support you, and push you to get better.
The bottom line: precision shooting is a skill, and skills can be taught. We bring the instruction. You bring the reps. The rest takes care of itself.

We'll bring the instruction. Here's what we ask from you.

Come ready to learn
Leave your ego in the truck. Even if you've been shooting for years, come with an open mind. You might find out something you've been doing for a decade isn't optimal.

Put in the work
We'll give you the techniques and the feedback. You have to put in the repetitions. Improvement comes from practice, not attendance.

Ask questions
If something doesn't make sense, ask. If you want to know why we do something a certain way, ask. Curious students become better shooters.

Support your classmates
We're all here for the same reason. Celebrate each other's hits, help troubleshoot misses, and make the training better for everyone.
