What this class is

Most courses tell you what you will learn. We care about what you will be able to do. Foundation is where we build the precision rifle process from the ground up: how your rifle system works, how to set it up so it fits you, how to zero it and prove your data, and how to run a stable position and a repeatable shot process on known-distance targets.

Who it's for

Shooters of every background: hunters, competitors, and people who just bought their first precision rifle. If you have years behind a rifle, this is where gaps in your fundamentals get found and fixed. If you are new, this is where the right habits start.

What you'll be able to do
  • Safely handle and operate a precision rifle system
  • Choose a rifle, cartridge, and optic that fit what you actually want to do
  • Set your rifle up for comfort, stability, and recoil management
  • Zero your optic at 100 yards and understand what your system can and cannot do
  • Manage recoil from the prone so you see your own impacts
  • Build a stable, repeatable shooting position with a process you can teach back
  • Program and use a modern ballistic solver, and validate your own data
  • Engage known-distance targets from a stable foundational position
  • Spot for another shooter, call corrections, and identify trace
  • Read wind and build a wind call you can repeat

Day by day

  1. Day 1 Wed, May 5

    Rifle setup, zero, and foundational mechanics

    Technical setup and marksmanship fundamentals

    • Complete safety and technical setup checks
    • Validate rifle fit, zero, and muzzle velocity
    • Run structured 100-yard evaluations
    • Correct mechanical and positional inefficiencies early

  2. Day 2 Thu, May 6

    Ballistics integration and mid-range application

    Ballistic understanding and data validation

    • Translate internal and external ballistics into field use
    • Build and validate ballistic solver profiles
    • Engage known-distance targets with confirmed elevation data
    • Start developing wind correction capability

  3. Day 3 Fri, May 7

    Wind application, unknown distance, and proficiency

    Applied wind management and independent execution

    • Refine wind calls using observation, gun numbers, and solver data
    • Engage both known and unknown distance targets
    • Demonstrate safe, confident decision-making under pressure
    • Complete a proficiency evaluation and applied course of fire

  4. Day 4 Sat, May 8

    Evaluation of Skill

    • Demonstrate safe, confident decision-making under pressure
    • Complete a proficiency evaluation and applied course of fire
    • Individual assessment of skills developed during course

The final schedule can shift with weather, terrain, and the class in front of us. The standard stays the same: clear reps, coached correction, and useful debriefs.

Before you register

Prerequisites

  • None regarding prior shooting experience. This is the starting point.
  • A rifle that is roughly zeroed and an open mind.
  • Proof of legal firearm possession: sheriff's letter, current CCW, or a Form 4473 from the past year.

100 rounds of match-grade ammunition per training day, same lot number.

Bring the rifle system you plan to train with. If something is not sorted yet, bring it anyway and we will help you understand what matters.

  • Precision rifle system capable of shooting under 1 MOA, with a rough 100-yard zero
  • Precision optic with adjustable turrets (MIL or MOA), mounted and level
  • Bipod with cant and swivel
  • Rear support bag
  • Two magazines (ability to load 20 rounds for courses of fire)
  • Ballistic solver (Hornady 4DOF is free and works)
  • Eye protection and ear protection
  • Individual first aid kit
  • Rifle case, hard or soft
