Overview
Ready to tackle one of the biggest challenges involved with precision shooting? Our Wind Clinic is designed to provide you with a systematic approach to understanding, reading and correcting for the wind. Led by Marine Scout Sniper Instructors with over 50 years of combined operational and teaching experience, this program will provide new and experienced shooters with a systematic approach to wind reading that can be used in virtually any shooting scenario, whether it be on the range, in the field, or in competition.
We’ll dive into what causes wind, how wind moves through different types of terrain, when to expect changes in the wind pattern, and of course multiple techniques for you to read and identify wind in the field and correct for it.
Who This Course Is For
This course is for Graduates of our Foundation Course or shooters with equivalent level 1 training. You should be able to execute prone fundamentals without conscious thought – your shooting process is automatic, your recoil management is clean, and you navigate ballistic solvers with confidence.
Capabilities You’ll Develop
Understanding of wind. What causes it, how it moves, where and when to expect changes.Establish a consistent method for reading wind and formulating an accurate wind firing solution.Read and interpret wind indicators across varying terrain and adjust firing solutions in real-time.Make accurate windage calls on unknown distance targets using modern technology and equipment.Function as both shooter and spotter in team scenarios, communicating corrections and wind calls under stress.
Prerequisites
To ensure you're prepared for the advanced challenges in this course, students must demonstrate:
Foundational Proficiency: Completion of our Foundation Course or equivalent level 1 precision rifle training with documented proficiency.Unconscious Competence from Prone: Consistent execution of proper shooting fundamentals from the prone position without conscious thought—your process should be automatic.Recoil Management: Clean, consistent recoil management that allows you to spot your own impacts and maintain stable sight picture through the shot.Ballistic Solver Competency: Working knowledge of modern ballistic solvers and ability to generate accurate firing solutions for known distance engagements.Equipment Readiness: A properly zeroed precision rifle system with functional optic, and familiarity with your rifle's operation and adjustments.Proof of Legal Firearm Possession: Must provide proof via sheriff's letter, current CCW, or Form 4473 from past year.
