What this class is
Most courses tell you what you will learn. We care about what you will be able to do. Foundation is where we build the precision rifle process from the ground up: how your rifle system works, how to set it up so it fits you, how to zero it and prove your data, and how to run a stable position and a repeatable shot process on known-distance targets.
Who it's for
Shooters of every background: hunters, competitors, and people who just bought their first precision rifle. If you have years behind a rifle, this is where gaps in your fundamentals get found and fixed. If you are new, this is where the right habits start.
What you'll be able to do
- Safely handle and operate a precision rifle system
- Choose a rifle, cartridge, and optic that fit what you actually want to do
- Set your rifle up for comfort, stability, and recoil management
- Zero your optic at 100 yards and understand what your system can and cannot do
- Manage recoil from the prone so you see your own impacts
- Build a stable, repeatable shooting position with a process you can teach back
- Program and use a modern ballistic solver, and validate your own data
- Engage known-distance targets from a stable foundational position
- Spot for another shooter, call corrections, and identify trace
- Read wind and build a wind call you can repeat

Prerequisites
- None regarding prior shooting experience. This is the starting point.
- A rifle that is roughly zeroed and an open mind.
- Proof of legal firearm possession: sheriff's letter, current CCW, or a Form 4473 from the past year.

- Zeroed optic with a reliable reticle and locking turrets

- Weather-appropriate clothing, hat, gloves, and eye/ear protection

Ready to tackle one of the biggest challenges involved with precision shooting? Our Wind Clinic is designed to provide you with a systematic approach to understanding, reading and correcting for the wind. Led by Marine Scout Sniper Instructors with over 50 years of combined operational and teaching experience, this program will provide new and experienced shooters with a systematic approach to wind reading that can be used in virtually any shooting scenario, whether it be on the range, in the field, or in competition.
We’ll dive into what causes wind, how wind moves through different types of terrain, when to expect changes in the wind pattern, and of course multiple techniques for you to read and identify wind in the field and correct for it.
Who this course is for
This course is for Graduates of our Foundation Course or shooters with equivalent level 1 training. You should be able to execute prone fundamentals without conscious thought – your shooting process is automatic, your recoil management is clean, and you navigate ballistic solvers with confidence.
Capabilities you’ll develop

- Establish a consistent method for reading wind and formulating an accurate wind firing solution.
- Read and interpret wind indicators across varying terrain and adjust firing solutions in real-time.
- Make accurate windage calls on unknown distance targets using modern technology and equipment.
- Function as both shooter and spotter in team scenarios, communicating corrections and wind calls under stress.
Prerequisites
To ensure you're prepared for the advanced challenges in this course, students must demonstrate:
- Foundational Proficiency: Completion of our Foundation Course or equivalent level 1 precision rifle training with documented proficiency.
- Unconscious Competence from Prone: Consistent execution of proper shooting fundamentals from the prone position without conscious thought—your process should be automatic.
- Recoil Management: Clean, consistent recoil management that allows you to spot your own impacts and maintain stable sight picture through the shot.
- Ballistic Solver Competency: Working knowledge of modern ballistic solvers and ability to generate accurate firing solutions for known distance engagements.
- Equipment Readiness: A properly zeroed precision rifle system with functional optic, and familiarity with your rifle's operation and adjustments.
- Proof of Legal Firearm Possession: Must provide proof via sheriff's letter, current CCW, or Form 4473 from past year.
